A massive thank you!
We had a fantastic day yesterday. Everyone was very polite and laughed in the right places during my speech. Andy, my Best Man, was completely brilliant.
Geoff’s additions to the web site sums the mood of the day up perfectly – very light hearted and full of cheer.
The band, Jeriatric Jazz, performed superbly with lots of dancing, cheering and general messing about. Thank you so much to Fred and the rest. The DJ pitched the music exactly right, strangely playing “The Life Of Riley”. Not sure why. Thanks Dave ;-) Mr Jones – where did you learn to dance like that? It kept us all very entertained.
Our hearts go out to Ann and Steve. Ann fell during the evening and has broken her hip. We wish her a very speedy recovery.
Steffi has just done a quick add-up of the donations. We are up to an incredible £3600! Truly amazing.
Thank you.
We set off walking tomorrow, so expect another blog update as soon as I get a mobile signal.

Hitchin' a ride

Have you any idea how difficult it is to get a ride when you’re dressed like this?
Steve and Steff resorted to flagging down the wedding car when they had loaded themselves up for a test of their back packs; but there was nothing to worry about, the driver had just gone to break out the champers.
The wedding car itself was a pre war vintage Austin taxi, and brought a sigh of relief to people who had been worried about Steffs insistence that she was ‘taking a taxi’ to the wedding.

Just picked up the dress
Only a few hours left of being (kind-of) single.
We started the day off by declining to be interviewed by Granada Reports – they wanted to film the wedding! With everything else going on, I’m not sure we could have coped with a TV interview as well.
The only thing to do now is keep Steff’s stress level down, go for a drinky and try and get some sleep…fat chance.
Still not cleaned the boots. Seems a waste of time now. They’ll only get mucky again come Monday.

Everything is ready!

Everything is ready for the wedding — band, cake, invitations sent and RSVPs received. All the waterproofs have been re-proofed.
Still need to clean the boots, but it seems a shame to change the habit of a lifetime. Even my speech is written.
All we need to do now is get married.

Good news at Christie's
Steffi’s mum who has been having cancer treatment for the last 18 months, has just got the all clear at Christie’s today. She doesn’t need to go back for a checkup for another six months. Which is great news.
We are so grateful to the hospital for all the care they give.
